The Humana Challenge, formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic, happens every January in the Coachella Valley. It is a professional golf tournament established in 1960.
The Humana Challenge is prefaced by the Humana Well-Being Walk and Healthy Fun Fair, setting the tone for a week-long emphasis on health, nutrition and fitness. Cerna Home Care got in on the excitement by being an exhibitor at the Healthy Fun Fair on January 12, 2014 at the La Quinta Community Park.
It’s not called a “Fun Fair” for nothing! Exhibitors were challenged by Humana’s event team to dream-up interactive activities at their booths designed to both engage and inform guests about each company’s products or services. Gina Ross is the Manager of Cerna’s Palm Springs office; she had the daunting task of figuring-out just how to fulfill this requirement AND make it entertaining for youngsters, adults and seniors.
Cerna Home Care provides services for people with memory loss related to dementia and Alzheimer’s making Gina’s idea brilliant in its simplicity and relevance. She devised a memory game using cards. It was a hit! Young and old people wanted to play and keep playing until they mastered the game. The card game was an excellent opportunity to talk about the importance of exercising our brains.
Cerna’s staff sets itself apart by the many different exercises and programs we use to invoke cognitive activity with our clients. Paired with customized low-impact stretching and moving, our clients become more vibrant. Gina’s card game proved our brains are always up for a challenge at any age.
